Hello, there! I’m Christopher, which you should have known if you saw my cute little green logo. So, let me not distract you from the following post. I hope you like it! I’d love to hear your thoughts after you’re done reading it! Enjoy!
The days are getting closer to Christmas and the anticipation for that wonderful day is high! We have been waiting for so long to see what is inside those wrapped presents.
The Jews were waiting for many, many years for the Messiah to come. They were hoping to be freed from their enemies. But when Jesus would save them, he would do so in a different way.
Imagine this: you spend time searching for the right present, buying and wrapping it. Then when you give it, the recipient doesn’t care about the effort that went into it, and doesn’t care that someone thought of him. That would be very sad.
Yet, that’s what happened. When Jesus came, many didn’t open themselves to the truth. Their stubborn hearts weren’t open to the truth. They remained cold. Why? Because it wasn’t what they wanted. They wanted a king who would save them from their earthly enemies, but Jesus was the King of kings. An earthly king would have saved them from Rome, but Jesus saved us from our sins. An earthly king would save them temporarily, but Jesus saved us for eternity.
Sometimes the truth isn’t always what we wanted. And sometimes the gift isn’t always what we wanted. Sometimes the truth is harder to accept than we imagined it to be. We should accept the truth, even if it’s not what we hoped it would be. God thought of us and wanted to save us. It is the best gift of all. Jesus is the gift that God sent to us.
Note: My dad helped a lot in the editing of this devotion. Thank you!
