Hello, there! I’m Christopher, which you should have known if you saw my cute little green logo. So, let me not distract you from the following post. I hope you like it! I’d love to hear your thoughts after you’re done reading it! Enjoy!
Y’all ready for this recap? It’s time for something new!
Old, Old News
Here’s a few albums I first took a listen to in February!
A Little History:
After their lead single “While We’re Young” released, their self-titled debut came out, and it was received positively. It debuted at #11 at the Christian music chart, but fared better on the Top Heatseekers chart, when it jumped from 18 to 2.
In 2014, Kelsey married a member of Anthem Lights and left 1 Girl Nation. The couple sing together as Caleb + Kelsey.
1 Girl Nation released “Try,” a cover song, as a single, and “A Very 1 Girl Nation Christmas.” The group was hoping to release “Cinema,” their second album the next year. That didn’t happen.
I know Carmen and Lindsey got married between 2014-15 for sure, I don’t know about the other members. But I do know that Lindsey left late 2015 to pursue a music carrier with her husband as “Austin and Lindsey Adamec.” Their first EP comes out late this March.
Early February this year, 1 Girl Nation made an announcement: they’re changing it all up. Now their name is 1GN and these changes should help make the group appeal to a wider audience. And they soon released their first single “Get Hype.” Their second album (or first, get it?) will be released mid-April!
Okay, what’s my personal opinion of all this? Honesty, I don’t really like the change of the name so much. You’ve already built your brand upon “1 Girl Nation,” so why change it? They say they wanna reach a larger audience, I guess to appeal also to guys. But the cover of the “Get Hype” single makes me think they’re main appeal will be directed to the gals.
Are they selling out? I doubt it. I think it was a decision they thought would be better for the band. I wish I could have more info about all this. I even requested an interview but never got a reply. (The management probably looked at my email and said, “The girls are already married.”)
Honestly, I purchased the 1 Girl Nation album because of the name and the style of the cover because I knew that it would be bubblegum pop-like (bubble, bubble, POP, POP!). I got it because I knew it would be a good replacement to Girls’ Generation and SISTAR (secular K-POP girl groups; I don’t recommend them because of content) and could be the modern “pureNRG,” which wasn’t bubblegum pop, but had a friendly pop sound.
I dunno. I can talk about it, but it won’t change a thing. And I don’t think it’s worth arguing over. The new veggies were worth protesting over, not this 1GN deal.
In the end, I will just go with the flow and enjoy the new content 1GN release. Anyways, I AM VERY PUMPED!!!
Spotlight Interviews with James
Q: Introduce yourself.
A: Hey, this is James Oberhauser, but most of ya'll know me as Trenton Landmark. That was a pen name, and since I now use G+ with a lot of my friends who know me as James, I've decided to go as my real name. I originally started blogging with the AIOFansite, and later, Growing Up with Trent and Rudy. I now have a new blog going.
Q: Why did you stop blogging for a bit?
A: I stopped blogging, because I lost interest in what I was doing, plus, I was extremely busy.
Q: Any new plans for the new blog?
A: The fun thing about my new blog is that, I don't even know yet what I plan to do! It's a blank canvas for me, a clean sheet.
