Hello, there! I’m Christopher, which you should have known if you saw my cute little green logo. So, let me not distract you from the following post. I hope you like it! I’d love to hear your thoughts after you’re done reading it! Enjoy!
It’s finally time for it to rise back from the grave!!! But why ask me?
This is the column where I take random questions about nearly anything and answer them on my blog.
I actually still have a pile of questions sitting in the box from last year. So let me dig through some of them and answer a few!!!
Okay, this first question is from Vance L., and he asks, “What’s ur fav place to visit?”
Uh . . . why ask me?
Ur? Fav? Uh . . . I might have to play along with this.
Fav . . . huh? Let me pull up my dictionary.
Fava bean. Favor. Favor 2.0. Favorable. Favorably. Favorite. Favorite 2.0. Favortism.
Hm. Okay. I think we’re getting somewhere.
“What’s ur fava bean place to visit?”
I’m not joking. It’s just cracking me up.
That’s what happens when you ask me questions!
Oh my. I can’t move on.
“What’s ur fava bean place to visit?”
I love my dictionary!!!
Okay, moving on. I’ll just pick a random one. Eyes closed. Ljfkajho90u34.lkjw. fkuo2jlgf oq2938upajwfluqoijswa; .lk rwe Okay, I got it. “What’s ur favorite 2.0 place to visit?”
Hm. I still don’t know what the “ur” is about. And the 2.0 part is weird.
I think I know your favorite (2.0) place to visit! Ur! Ur of the Chaldeans!!! Where Abraham originally lived! I’m soooo smart!!!
Wait, huh? Oh, my editor (his name is Christopher 164) is telling me that the question was supposed to say “What’s your favorite place to visit?”
Well, if I was in Korea, then I would probably say the dam that was near my home. It was a wonderful place I’d ride my bike to. I would sit in the middle of nature, thanking the Lord for various things and I could sing my lungs out, from songs like “To Hell With The Devil” and “Impossible” where I could let loose screams, to songs like “How Can It Be” and “The Reason” where I could worship the Lord. I really don’t have anywhere where I live now to sing my lungs out. It’s kinda tough on me at times.
But you might mean like a general place. Then I’d probably say Los Angeles.
But now that I’m in America, then I’d say Korea.
But if I was confined to somewhere close by, then I’d say church, provided that people are there. Church is so wonderful, where I can go and worship the Lord and hang with my friends.
Okay, fava bean, Imma gonna move on now.
Garner W. asks “What do you think of Blimey Cow?”
At least it wasn’t phrased “Wah do u dink o’ Blimey Cow?” I would have had a lot of fun with that.
Anyways, Blimey Cow.
For those who don’t know (like I need to explain), Blimey Cow is a YouTube channel. (Moving on. JK) It is mainly fueled by two brothers, Josh (+ his wife Kelli) and Jordan Taylor, and they bring on family members, friends, and sometimes special guests to do a show they are most popular for entitled “Messy Mondays.”
So, what do I think?
Well, first off, I think they are very funny and very creative. I really do enjoy their videos (as you may have seen me feature a recent one entitled “I Hate You, 2016.”) and, well, laugh. (#bigheadkid)
Some of their most popular videos are their relationship and homeschool videos. “Seven Lies About Homeschoolers” was the video that blew them up and the duo “Ten Things You Should Never Say To A Guy/Girl” vids are in the top 3 most view videos of theirs.
Some of their videos are very sarcastic and are arguing from the opposite point of view, which makes you not sure if they’re serious or not. Usually they’re just helping you think from the other point of view.
Another problem I do have with them are their portrayals of God and Jesus. They get a little too lax and they can be just another character in some of their skits. For some skits, yeah, we probably needed to see it that way, but in some videos (like “In [Everything But] God We Trust”), they take it WAAAAAAYY too far.
In addition, I do wish they were better reps of Christianity than they already are.
Other than that, I enjoy them. Though they don’t do normal Christian stuff (and not everything I’m fine with or agree with, they are just different), they are fun to watch.
I guess I’m distracted right now.
Okay, the last question is from Wylie M., and he asks, “What are your thoughts on social media?”
Oh . . . kay. Social media.
It’s dumb. Get rid of it. It’s fake news. Fake comments. Fake compliments. It’s all fake.
Well, okay, what did you mean by “What are your thoughts on social media?” I realize that sometimes I phrase my questions in an unclear way. So, Imma gonna guess that you’re asking about social media usage for teens.
Well, first, why not I just roast social media? Yeah!!!
Instagram. I just think that’s a little dumb. A public online photo gallery. I understand it’s usage for companies to promote their products, but not really for personal usage.
Snapchat. Ho, ho, ho! DUM. I don’t even understand it. It just seems like this app where they give you virtual plastic surgery and you don’t even look any better. Then you post it. HAHAHAHAHA!!!
I really have no clue what Snapchat is. You can’t even link directly to your profile!
Facebook. It looks like it was created years ago. Sorry! It looks like they tried to make it look new, but you can tell it still looks old.
Twitter. 140 characters. That’s called mental slavery! Confining what you say! Or you can be like our president, who is a very smart Twitter user, and break up your sentence in five tweets. I JUST BROKE TWITTER!
Actually, I prefer Twitter over Facebook.
No one really uses anything else. (What else is there?) I only use Disqus, Spotify, and an RSS feed.
So what would be my favorites? (I had to catch myself from saying “What are my favs?” Ho, ho, ho.) Disqus is probably forever #1!!! I’d give Twitter #2. And I don’t know what to say #3 is. I have a love/hate relationship with Spotify (they don’t pay their artists well), plus the share and notification functions don’t even work. What’s the point? (I had to catch myself from saying “Wah da pont?” Ho, ho, ho. Be careful how you roast people, bro . . . ther.) If someone would give me an exhaustive list of all the social media platforms out there, then I’d hate you forever because I wouldn’t be able to read it all.
Wow, I’m so sarcastic today. That’s not good.
I’m actually writing this post over the course of several days. Wednesday and Thursday I answered the first two questions and today, Friday, I’m answering the third. I was in a really good mood on Wednesday and Thursday (okay, I’m sorry, Vance, I nearly did Wed and Thur) and today not as much. But God is still good. That’s all that matters.
But what do I think about teens using social media? As far as the normal stuff like Facebook and Twitter go, I would stay away from it for now. If you have long form thoughts to share, then start a blog. If you wanna show your photography, then I’d understand an Instagram account with your blog. If you wanna connect with other people in a safe community, there’s my site, the Rebelution, and Revive. Very safe places where you can build friendships. (But, please, do focus on your real life friends. It is nice to have online friends, but they won’t do as much for you as your real life friends. But the Rebelutionaries are very, very, very nice people who love God.)
It all boils down to where in the internet are you gonna go. There’s a Christian blog here and then there’s a porn site the next. The internet is a confusing place to be and where to go can be confusing. So it’s important that you ask your parents to approve of website until they can trust you. And if you wanna connect with people, ask your parents about connecting via Disqus on my website and adjacent blogs and getting an account over at Revive.
Disqus is a little more cliquey than Facebook would be. I don’t know how to explain that. Like Disqus got its roots on other people’s websites, while Facebook started on it’s on site where everyone goes. Now they’re trying to branch out to the other aspect, with Facebook with their comments and Disqus with their channels. It just depends where you go.
So there may be safe Facebook groups you could join, but do you know of any? And how private are they? Even the Christian channels on Disqus get raided by weirdoes, while that barely happens here or on the Reb.
Then there’s the thing (with anything) that it can be time consuming. On Facebook or Twitter, you could be focused a ton on likes and retweets and followers and such. (On Disqus, while you might check your follower and upvote count once in awhile, you will be more focused on the conversations.) You may try too hard to get noticed or sharing your heart too deeply. I don’t have social media accounts (except for the two/three that I mentioned above), so I don’t really know how they work. But I do have an idea.
I do want a Twitter account one day soon to help promote the site, but it’s probably not the best time for me at this point. Plus, if anyone wants to have a conversation with me, my website is the place to have that, not Facebook. I would use Facebook and Twitter to promote my site, not to meet people and start conversations. You do that on my site.
Okay, I hope that answers that question.
I still got quite a nice stack in the box to answer, but I hope you got the idea what my Q&A’s are like. I hope you’ll peg a question at me! I’m really excited to see what you got for me. I have a blast answering these questions!!! Please send them in.
I thought of asking crazy awesome questions to myself, but that honestly takes the fun out of it all. (I might do that around my birthday. Everyone likes it when I talk to myself! Remember the interview I did? EVERYBODY loved that. And in the comment section? Oh ho ho ho!!!) I want to hear from you. If I’d ask myself questions, then I’d just post “Crazy, Random Thoughts” everyday and that would bore everyone out.
Point made. I REALLY WANNA HEAR FROM Y-O-U!
So pumped to see what is coming in next. Go to the Fun page to peg me questions.
Any questions. I’ll take just about ANYTHING. Try me. “What’s your most embarrassing moment?” I’ll take that. I’m that serious.
Okay, God bless you all! So excited to do another in a few weeks!
Wanna peg me a question???
